RULES
CATEGORIES:
| "A".Amateur: | (Non-Professional) where the maker has no financial or commercial object and produced without professional assistance. |
| "B".Student: | where the maker is a Student or Young Person in full time education up to an age limit of 25 but with only limited professional assistance. [ IF MORE THAN LIMITED PROFESSIONAL ASSISTANCE INVOLVED ENTER IN CLASS "C" ]. |
| "C".Open: | applicable to any entrant ineligible in "A" or "B" and including all Professionals. |
SUBJECTS:
Entries may be on any lawful subject, on any topic - Pornography as such,
is excluded.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Note: No paper labels on DVDs.
Videos must be on standard tape cassettes in Full Size DV, Mini DV,
Digi 8 or, DVD-R formats in the PAL system.
MiniDV or DVD-R only, in the NTSC system.
Only one movie per cassette / disc which must have a minimum 15 seconds black
leader. Cassette or disc clearly labelled with title and name of entrant.
All awards leaders / trailers must be removed. [Cine film transferred
to a high band video format is acceptable.]
Entries must have been made in the last 6 years.
Inclusion / use of borrowed footage up to a maximum of 10% of the total
running time is permitted uf essential to the story line. See rule 9 on
copyright.
SOUND: Stereo tracks and HI-FI only - NOT MIX.
The organisers reserve the right to exclude any entry deemed to contain scenes
of violence for its own sake, explicit sex, excessive bad language or gratuitous
racism. This applies to all titling.
ENTRY
FORMS:
There is no restriction on the number of entries.
EACH ENTRY MUST BE ON A SEPARATE ENTRY FORM
Entry Forms must be completed in full, signed and dated.
Entry forms and entries together with fees must be mailed pre-paid to the
address on the entry form to arrive no later than the closing date. [The

All entries will be acknowledged as soon as possible after receipt.
ENTRY FEES:
Amateurs £10. Students / Young People £5. Professionals
£15.
We much prefer payment in GBP (pounds sterling) by cheque, bankers draft
drawn in sterling or currency notes.
We can accept payment in other currencies but charge an extra 2 GBP for doing
so.
We regard 1.5 US dollars or 1.5 Euros or 2 Australian dollars as equivalent
to 1 GBP.
In other currencies people should use these levels as a standard - if in
doubt round up amounts.
We can only accept currency notes - NOT coins - so entrants must round-up
fees when necessary.
Entry Fees, methods of payment, return postage are as detailed on the entry
form. Entries can be returned after the Festival if postage is pre-paid.
CHEQUES etc.:- make payable to COTSWOLD INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL. These
fees include postage of any prizes or diplomas.

JUDGING / ADJUDICATION:
Preliminary: All entries will be screened in full and judged by individual
competent judges appointed by the Festival Committee.
Final Judging will be by different selected individual judges invited
and appointed by the Festival Committee.
All judges throughout will use a specific formula which takes into account
all aspects of motion picture making. If in the opinion of the Judges no
entry at a level in a category merits an award the Festival Committee will
not make an award.
Judges appraisals and critiques will be sent to all entrants after the Festival
is concluded together with a catalogue of all entries and winners.
Judges decisions are final, no correspondence will be entered into.
ENTRIES IN EACH CATEGORY WILL BE JUDGED WITHIN ITS CATEGORY, LIKE WITH LIKE
SUBJECTS, NOT ACROSS CATEGORIES, CLASSIFICATIONS OR SUBJECTS.
RUNNING TIMES: (Important - these must be
appropriately stated on the entry form)
Categories "A" and "B" Maximum 16 minutes, including titles. Category
"C" Maximum 22 minutes including titles.
COPYRIGHT CLEARANCE: OF ALL VISUALS AND SOUND RECORDED IS THE ABSOLUTE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE ENTRANT AND THE SIGNATORY ON THE ENTRY FORM.
PACKAGING:
Each Cassette / Disc must be clearly labelled with the Title and the full
Name and Address of the Entrant. All packaging must be re-useable for
return mailing. Entrants from Europe and Abroad must use the Customs
Label applicable in their country. (In the unlikely event but should it apply,
entrants must pay any customs clearance duty).
SECURITY:
The C.I.F.V.F. Committee will ensure reasonable care of all entries whilst
in their possession but will not be responsible for any loss or damage how
so ever caused.
TYPE OF MOVIE: SYNOPSIS: PHOTOGRAPHS: BIOGRAPHY:
STILLS OF FILM SCENES:
Within each Category and with reference to type specified the Festival Committee
will classify entries "Like with Like" subject for Judging.
A short synopsis in English on plain paper is required.
Also photographs and a biography of the maker(s).
PLEASE include action stills of film scenes etc. these are very much appreciated for Advance Publicity Purposes
The interpretation of these Rules by the Festival Committee is final, correspondence on this aspect will not be accepted.
